Mailey
Developments Ltd. has established a reputation
as one of the foremost development firms in British
Columbia’s interior. As a result of the diversification
of its services, Mailey’s projects pervade
many of BC’s communities. This success is
visible in Mailey’s relentless endeavour to
achieve excellence, as evident in the company’s
evolution.
|
The
construction tradition started in the Mailey
family in Northern Ireland in 1947, when
Rick Mailey, at the age of fifteen, started
his apprenticeship as a journeyman-joiner.
Then, in 1952, he moved to Windsor, Ontario,
where he eventually became foreman and then
construction manager for Eastern Construction.
While at Eastern, his largest projects included
an addition to St. Joseph’s Hospital
in Sarnia, Ontario. |
Eventually, Rick Mailey
became partner and then owner of R.W. McKay
Construction, a firm dating back to 1928.
McKay provided services in the commercial,
institutional, and industrial construction
fields to Sarnia and the outlying Lambton
region. It is the success in development
excellence of this first company that has
acted as a bar for Mailey.
Mailey Developments Ltd. was created in
1992, in Kelowna, British Columbia. In recreating
and building upon the successes of McKay,
Mailey quickly established itself as both
a flexible and diversified construction
company to meet the needs of the booming
Kelowna market. |

 |
Since
its inception, Mailey has diversified itself
into the institutional, commercial, industrial,
recreational, and residential construction
markets. It has been involved in high profile
and demanding projects throughout British
Columbia. Mailey’s perpetually growing
profile has come to include projects such
as the $10.2 million expansion of the Kelowna
International Airport, the $8.9 million
Prince
George Aquatic Centre, and private residential
developments, like the award-winning $5
million Peregrine
Point Estates, in Vernon. |
Today, in meeting the demands of the ever-growing
Kelowna housing and construction markets, Mailey’s
commitment to development excellence is more evident
than ever. Mailey is able to meet its clients’
individual needs through a number of delivery methods,
such as fixed-price contracts, project and construction
management, or design-build agreements.
